BWT Alpine F1 Team gears up for its fourth season in Formula 1 in the 2024 FIA Formula 1 World Championship led by its dynamic, all-French driver line-up, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly, for the second consecutive year. The unveiling of the A524 Formula 1 car marks a change in philosophy and approach to the team’s ambitions in Formula 1, guided by Team Principal Bruno Famin with its technical teams led by Technical Directors Matt Harman in Enstone and Eric Meignan in Viry-Châtillon.

The A524 Formula 1 car is a brand-new concept created for the next two seasons. Innovative solutions mark it as a result of learning from previous iterations. The bold approach will allow the team to apply a more robust development path across the subsequent two campaigns before the radical change in technical regulations following that.

For 2024, the team is loyally supported by title partner BWT and its premium partners BP, Castrol, and Renault E-Tech. As a result, the livery has been designed in collaboration with contemporary artist Felipe Pantone to bring a fresh and unique vision to the car design. Using black as its core, the colours embody traditional Alpine blue, the predominant colour for the campaign, matched with the now world-renowned pink colours of BWT. The livery will be inverted to be pink-dominated at eight rounds of the 2024 season.

Esteban, Pierre, and the team will take on Formula 1’s record-breaking 24-race calendar, which spans 11 months of the year, covers five continents, begins in February in Bahrain, and ends in Abu Dhabi in December. The calendar also includes the return to Shanghai for the Chinese Grand Prix for the first time since 2019.

Renault Group remains dedicated to the Formula 1 project, buoyed by the valued support of CEO Luca De Meo. Formula 1 remains a crucial pillar in ‘Renaultlution’ under the Alpine brand, headed by CEO Philippe Krief.

Motorsport is the core of Alpine’s DNA, and the brand’s commitment to racing is highlighted in the fact it is the most involved of any car company in FIA racing categories, with a presence in Formula 1, World Endurance, open-wheel racing and rallying.

Alpine, a brand born from racing

Alpine’s history dates back to 1955, when Jean Rédélé, a young man passionate about competition, formed the automotive brand. Fast-forward nearly 70 years, and Alpine is now at the forefront of motor racing, competing alongside the elite in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, the World Endurance Championship, and many other motorsport disciplines.

The original A110 road car was introduced in 1962, and by the early 1970s, Alpine was a significant force in top-flight rally competition. In 1971, Alpine took the three steps on the podium of the world-famous Rallye Monte Carlo for the first time and later again in 1973. The company went on to win the World Rally Championship Manufacturers’ title later that year.

Alpine achieved one of its most famous motorsport triumphs in 1978: victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Filled with this racing passion and savoir-faire, the brand released new and innovative road cars throughout the 70s and 80s, including the A310 V6 and the GTA.

When Alpine’s relaunch in 2012 was announced, a competition programme was born to develop the brand’s awareness. This commitment was underlined in endurance racing, which has enjoyed numerous successes on international circuits.

Fast-forward to 2021, and Alpine took its first steps into the elite realms of Formula 1 after Luca de Meo announced the company’s decision to enter the series as the rebranded Alpine F1 Team.

In 2024, the brand reiterates its commitment to Formula 1, endurance, rallying, cup, GT, and the SimRacing sphere through Esports. The 2024 calendar is busy, punctuated by the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, the World Endurance Championship, the FFSA GT4 European Series, the FFSA Championnat de France GT, and the Championnat de France FFSA des Rallyes, but also by customer competitions organised by the brand, such as the Alpine Elf Rally Trophy on the road and the Alpine Elf Europa Cup on the track.
