In a crazy finish to their innings, the Stars lost four wickets in four balls as No.11 Haris Rauf was stranded at the non-striker’s end with no pads on after being caught short in unprecedented scenes.
The Stars were 6-172 with four balls remaining and Rauf was understandably getting ready to bowl, but the Thunder had other ideas.
Beau Webster was caught and bowled after skying a ball from Daniel Sams to spark a remarkable late collapse.

Usama Mir came and went caught by Chris Green with the very next ball.
Mark Steketee was then run out by Cameron Bancroft to complete a team hat-trick, before Rauf was forced to enter the field without any pads on in a never before seen first in professional cricket.
Rauf rushed onto the field struggling to get his helmet and gloves on, while clutching his bat, but he neglected to put the pads on given he was at the non-striker’s end.
Commentators Brad Haddin, Brett Lee and Mel Jones were in shock at the spectacle unfolding on the field.
“Look at this, he has got no gloves on, no helmet on and no pads,” Haddin said on Fox Cricket.
“I have never seen this in my life,” Lee added.
“Haris Rauf has been caught short literally,” Jones said.
“How is this, what about a wide and take a single?” Lee joked.
“He is going to face a ball with no . . . I hope he is wearing a box.”
“He is smiling at the moment, he might not be if he hasn’t,” Jones replied.
“Right, gloves are on, helmet on, bat in hand. He feels as if he has got things covered.”
“One glove on, this is a circus,” Lee said.
“You do not want a no-ball.”
Luckily for Rauf, Liam Dawson was bowled attempting to tuck the ball off his pads to cap four straight wickets as the Stars were bowled out for 172.
